— Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between Collins Aerospace and BAE Systems, has received a $14.5 million firm-fixed price delivery order from the U.S. Government to provide Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT) to the U.S. Navy and international militaries through foreign military sales. Designed to allow exchange of real-time situational awareness information and voice communications across the battle space, DLS’ MIDS-LVT is a versatile technology, arming U.S. and coalition assets across air, maritime, and ground platforms with secure, jam-resistant Link 16 communications.

“Through this delivery order, we will provide the critical airborne and ground link infrastructure in the joint warfare arena, which will allow the simultaneous coordination of all network-centric forces while maintaining unmatched situational awareness,” said Heather Neff, director at DLS. “Our team is proud to be leading this transformation in technology as one of the first to deliver a family of combat-proven Link 16 MIDS terminals to U.S. forces and coalition partners worldwide.”

DLS is the only company that provides all MIDS-LVT configurations within a complete Link 16 systems portfolio. The DLS MIDS-LVT incorporates secure data and voice into a single, small, affordable, and highly reliable unit. As the Link 16 innovation leader, DLS offers the world's broadest range of tactical data link terminals, equipment repair and maintenance programs, and training for air, land, and sea. MIDS-LVT was developed by a multinational consortium to provide Link 16 capability at a lower weight, volume and cost.

U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command awarded the firm fixed price contract to DLS, with work expected to be completed by July 31, 2015 and performed at DLS facilities in Wayne, New Jersey, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
